Piranèse 2000, inspired by emblematic buildings in Lille and around the world, represents an imaginary city.
The renovated work was inaugurated on 13 June 2025 by the Lille Metropolis.

The architect of dream cities.
Jean Pattou (1940–2023) was a French architect and artist from the north of the country. His work consists of dreamlike towns that unfold in a play of perspective. They are filled with architectural details and characters, and have a warm and colourful atmosphere.

Planned to be devoid of decor by the architect in charge of the Euralille district, Rem Koolhaas, the Lille-Europe metro station, with its rough concrete walls, was finally the subject of an artistic commission by the Communauté Urbaine de Lille, now the Métropole Européenne de Lille.

Rénovation de l’œuvre

Installée depuis 25 ans dans la station Lille-Europe, cette œuvre d’art s’était dégradée. La Métropole Européenne de Lille a décidé d’engager un vaste chantier de rénovation, et l’œuvre a ainsi été inaugurée le 13 juin 2025.
