The neo-Gothic crypt of the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral, an architectural jewel cleaned and restored, rehabilitated and enhanced by a luminous scenography in 2022, now becomes the setting for the "Cathedral Treasure".
Built in red brick and white stone, the negothic crypt is a vast vaulted space that runs under the cathedral’s chapels, choir and transepts.
The "Cathedral Treasure" is composed of about sixty pieces of art of goldsmiths from the late 19th and 20th century for the most part, made by talented goldsmiths, some of whom come from great dynasties in Paris and Lyon as Poussielgue-Rusand, Chertier and Favier.
While these cigars, chalices, patens, monstrances, reliquaries as well as several objects that belonged to the bishops of Lille and more particularly to Cardinal LIENART are no longer or almost no longer used for the liturgy, it’s the first time they are presented to the public in the form of a magnificent exhibition!
