On Wednesday, August 19, the Regional Natural Areas open the doors of their conservatory orchard for a free guided tour to discover the fruit heritage of our region.
Located within the Regional Genetic Resources Centre, this exceptional site is home to nearly 1,700 local fruit varieties. Apple, pear, plum and cherry trees are carefully preserved to preserve the diversity of species and transmit this heritage to future generations.
Throughout the visit, participants will discover the missions of the Regional Genetic Resources Centre, the issues related to the safeguarding of ancient varieties and the work carried out to collect, study and promote these treasures of the regional natural heritage.
This walk will be an opportunity to better understand the importance of cultivated biodiversity, to observe sometimes unknown varieties and to exchange with specialists who work for their preservation.
