The MEL, the Vélo Club de Roubaix Cyclotourisme, the town of Villeneuve d'Ascq and the partner associations are organizing a large festive day to launch the month of cycling, Saturday, May 2nd at the Stadium, as part of the operation May by bike.

Festive bike rides

For the 2026 edition, May by bike begins with a special event: 5 bike rides organized simultaneously in 5 partner territories! It’s the big launch of the 6th edition of Mai à vélo.
Two departures are proposed: at the Stadium of Villeneuve d'Ascq, with courses of 10, 20 or 30 km, and at the Vélodrome André Pétrieux de Roubaix, with routes of 20 or 30 km. A great opportunity to launch May by bike and rediscover the pleasure of riding together.
The friendly hike is organized between 9am and 11:30am from the Stadium.
This outing is aimed at all cycling enthusiasts wishing to share a sporty and friendly moment, whether you are a regular practitioner or a casual cyclist. The event highlights soft mobility and encourages cycling on a daily basis.

Participatory repair workshop for bicycles

Participatory workshop to learn how to maintain and repair one’s bike with a professional, Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Lille Métropole Stadium.
As part of an event dedicated to cycling, come and enjoy a participative repair stand hosted by the association Les Jantes du Nord. You will be able to perform maintenance or small repairs on your bike while learning the right actions thanks to the advice of a professional repairer.
The slots are proposed every 30 minutes:
from 9am to 12pm then from 1pm to 4pm (6 seats in the morning and 6 seats in the afternoon).
Partners: Les Jantes du Nord and the European Metropolis of Lille.
