Synonymous with disorder in everyday language, anarchy became a political thought in the middle of the 19th century. The first movement to delegitimize any form of authority, the political current is structured with only one watchword: "Neither God nor master!" By the place they reserve for individual freedom, anarchist ideas have seduced many artists since their emergence. The works of these creators have been imbued with this thought, as much as they have contributed to giving it an image, to disseminating it, to questioning it, to becoming an integral part of libertarian culture.
Crossing more than a century and a half of history and creation, this exhibition explores the links between movements, anarchist thought and the arts in all their forms, from the 19th century to today.
