The Belgian tapestry of the 20th century has experienced a remarkable revival. His male figures are well identified. The contribution of women—painters-cartonnieres, licie-creatrices, textile artists—is much less so, as they play an active role in the recognition of modern tapestry and its evolution towards contemporary textile arts.
Through four sequences covering the years 1950–1970, the exhibition highlights singular paths and gives way to eight somewhat forgotten creators of the history of the Belgian tapestry.
