Eternal girl proposed by Quatuor en Liberté and the Varèse Quartet
Two emotional masterpieces by the string quartet. Schubert composed a melody and a quartet on the poem «La jeune fille et la mort» by Matthias Claudius. The success is such that this girl and the theme of the 2nd movement have become eternal. Bartok’s 3rd quartet is a model of lyrical music, sometimes harsh, sometimes sweet, formed by micro-melodies as in fusion.
