A woodcutter in the province of La Pampa, Misael spends his days sawing, cutting and stacking wood to sell to a local buyer. With an almost ethnographic rigour, Alonso observes his solitary daily life, set to the rhythm of an existence removed from the modern world. Alonso’s debut feature film heralds his entire future body of work, in a pared-back narrative that juxtaposes the quest for freedom with survival on the fringes of the capitalist system.
