The moon has risen
From Kinuyo Tanaka
1955 | Japan | 1h42 | VOSTFR
With Chishu Ryu, Shuji Sano, Hisako Yamane
Mr. Asai lives in Nara with his three daughters: the eldest, Chizuru, who returned to the family home after her husband’s death; the youngest, Ayako, of marriageable age but not eager to leave their parents; and the youngest, Setsuko, the most exuberant of the three sisters who dream of going to settle in the capital. The latter is very close to Shoji, Chizuru’s young brother-in-law who lives in a temple near the Asai. One day, he receives the visit of an old friend, Amamiya, who remembers with emotion Ayako, met during his youth. Setsuko is convinced that he still has feelings for his sister and will do everything to force fate...
