🎬 Double screening evening – “La Jetée” & “The Army of the Twelve Monkeys”

Le Kino-Ciné offers you an exceptional evening around the theme of time, memory and survival, through two major science fiction films.
At 6:30 PM, (re)discover La Jetée by Chris Marker, a cult film composed of photographs and voice-overs, a veritable visual poem about memory and love in the shadow of war.
Then at 7:30 PM, place to The Army of the Twelve Monkeys by Terry Gilliam, freely inspired by Marker’s film, where Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt cross time to try to prevent a global pandemic.
The session will be followed by a discussion moderated by Thierry de Pinsun, film critic and editor-in-chief of the site On se fait un ciné, and Matéo Boussin, for an exchange around the relationship between these two fascinating works.
Presentation by Thierry de Pinsun:
Film critic (but also music on La grosse radio!) for about twenty years, Thierry has striven in different ways to defend this art that he cherishes so much (by the podcast Some like it hot, by certain participations in other shows, professional writing...) before joining in 2019 We are doing a cinema as Director of publications. Since then, he has been shaping the new pens of his editorial team to refine their critical thinking, and through his articles bears witness to a constant evolution of his vision of cinema: a window that helps us with the images and author’s visions we perceive to understand the world. Putting his often cynical pen at the service of his commitments, he considers critical work as that of a commentator on the surrounding who uses films to demonstrate his own idea of what surrounds him.
Presentation by Matéo Boussin:
Student in archaeology, passionate since his childhood about cinema, it is only for a few years that Matéo develops his film lover by constantly questioning himself on the images he looks at, applying an academic vision that he was able to develop during his studies. Cynical and always bringing everything back to Star Wars, maybe one day he will admit that it’s nicer Star Trek.
