Discovering the city center of Wambrechies

It is only 7 km north of Lille, on the banks of the Deûle, that the "city of juniper" is nestled. Although the texts that evoke Wambrechies date from the 10th century, the parish is much earlier than this date. The village experienced significant growth when Joan of Constantinople, Countess of Flanders, channeled the Basse-Deûle from Lille to Deûlémont. The appearance of textile and agri-food industries as well as the seigniory of Wambrechies mark its history and contribute to its fame.
