Lille Metropole EU office

Lille Metropole stands at a prime spot in the heart of Europe, with undeniable assets making it a leading player on the European stage. In 2017, Lille Metropole created its representation to the European institutions in Brussels to take part in shaping thinking Europe's future.

Lille Metropole has been forging close ties with European and international partners, launching major projects in areas such as environment, mobility, urban planning, culture and economic development. Lille Metropole is also a founding member of the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai, which was the first European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) created in Europe in 2008 by  14 public authorities. It brings together 2.1 million French and Belgian citizens in a cross-border territory of 157 municipalities.

In 2017, Lille Metropole created the Permanent Delegation in Brussels (Lille Metropole EU office) to liaise between Lille Metropole and the European institutions. The EU office gives Lille Metropole a physical presence in Brussels and build closer ties with different European stakeholders in order to foster new partnerships at the European level. The aim is to raise Lille Metropole’s profile on the European stage, to showcase the Metropole’s projects and boost the area's appeal.
